About

Who writes Nexolid, and why.

Hi, I’m Alex Novak. I work as a platform and infrastructure engineer somewhere in Europe, which in practice means I spend my days between Linux boxes, CI pipelines, container builds and Postgres. Before that I did backend work for a few years, and I still write more Go and shell than YAML, though some weeks it doesn’t feel that way.

This blog is my notebook. Most posts start as a note I wrote after losing an afternoon to something: a timer that didn’t fire, a backup that turned out to be empty, a bash script that kept going after a failed command. If a note was useful to me twice, it probably deserves a cleaned-up version here.

What you’ll find#

  • Linux and systemd, the parts that bite in production.
  • Container images, build pipelines and keeping them small.
  • Postgres operations: backups, restores, upgrades.
  • Shell scripting, debugging tools and small utilities.
