Small things I build on weekends to scratch my own itch. They’re all private for now: I’d like the docs to be less embarrassing before anyone else has to read them.
tidyup
CLIApplies retention rules to a directory of backup files: keep 7 daily, 4 weekly, 6 monthly, based on the timestamp in the file name rather than mtime.
- Written because every backup script reinvents this with
find -mtimeand gets the edge cases wrong. --dry-runprints what it would delete. It was the only mode I trusted for the first month.

slowq
CLIReads Postgres logs with
log_min_duration_statementenabled, normalizes the queries and prints the worst offenders by total time.- Literals out, whitespace collapsed, identical shapes grouped.
- Output is a Markdown table I can paste straight into a ticket. Basically a much smaller pgBadger.

dotfilesMy dotfiles plus one idempotent script that turns a fresh Debian install into something I can work on.
- Packages, shell config, a firewall baseline and unattended upgrades.
- Every step can run twice without breaking anything, which took longer to get right than the steps themselves.
